Organist in Residence
Mr Philip Scriven is Cranleigh’s Resident Organist and a teaching member of the Music Department. He received his musical training at Westminster Abbey, St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and St. John’s College, Cambridge. He subsequently studied conducting in Vienna and New York, and was Assistant Conductor for Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
Mr Scriven has previously held organist positions at Westminster Abbey, Winchester Cathedral and Lichfield Cathedral, and is also the Assistant Conductor and Accompanist of the Bach Choir in London. He currently divides his time between working at Cranleigh (where he also conducts “Cranleigh Voices”, the school’s Chamber Choir), and performing both in the UK and abroad.
