Richard Humes

Mr Humes is the Housemaster of North as well as Teacher of Physics.

Mr Richard Humes rejoined Cranleigh in September 2020 from Jerudong International School, Brunei, where he was Deputy Principal, with Boarding, Pastoral Systems and Safeguarding forming a key part of his role. He was also a lover of going for a run in the rainforest, occasionally getting lost.

Richard enjoys coaching rugby, netball and cricket and was part of the original bike ride and building project for Kawama School with Beyond Cranleigh, which he continues to support.

Richard graduated from Cambridge University with a MA in Natural Sciences and prior to moving into teaching he was an equities trader in London. Although now too fragile to play any rugby, he does continue to play cricket enthusiastically, where he is a loud wicketkeeper and optimistic batsman. Richard lives in North with his wife Tamsin and three boisterous children.
