Mr Stuart Welch is the Director of Cricket and also runs the Cranleigh School Cricket Academy, which is designed to coach the local club players throughout the winter months. He is an experienced tutor and has been a Deputy Housemaster of both East House and Loveday House. Currently, he is a North House tutor.
Mr Welch joined Cranleigh School in 2004 from Lords, where as Assistant Head Coach he oversaw the MCC YC’s programme, helping young cricketers to go on to gain playing contracts with 1st class counties.
During Mr Welch’s time at Cranleigh, he has seen numerous boys go on to play first-class cricket, including Stuart Meaker, Seren Waters and Ollie Pope, as well as having national success in 2014 with the U15s. In addition to heading up Cranleigh’s cricket, he also coaches 1st XI football, U14 rugby as well as fives and basketball.
