Two of Cranleigh’s youngest riders have achieved Regional recognition, in the contrasting disciplines of Eventing and Pure Dressage, and are looking forward with excitement to their competitions later in the spring.

Fifteen year old Briony Pearson (West) will compete at the famous Badminton Horse Trials in May, having qualified for the Grassroots competition on her 14.2hh pony, Bellissima.  Often competing against much bigger horses, Briony and ‘Bella’ finished in the top 10% of a local British Eventing ODE on more than one occasion, in order to qualify for the Regional Final in Firle, East Sussex, last August.  She finished in an outstanding second place here, with a double clear leaving her on an excellent  dressage score of just 28 penalties.

This is a phenomenal achievement for both rider and pony and we will be watching their progress over the two days of what will be a challenging competition for them in May.

Thirteen year old Phoebe Osborn (South) has been selected to represent the Southern Region at an Under 25 Inter-Regional Dressage Competition at The College, Keysoe at the end of March.  She and her pony ‘Macky’ are looking forward to their first team competition at this level and are excited to have been selected.
Congratulations to both riders and I look forward to reporting on their successes.
