The School rugby season finished in spectacular fashion with both Henry Lamont and Henry Taylor (both UVI) playing at the London Floodlit sevens. This is a famous sevens tournament held at Rosslyn Park and includes the likes of Harlequins, Saracens and Bath.

Henry Lamont played for Rosslyn Park after impressing for the School’s 1st XV throughout the last two seasons. Henry Taylor, fresh from playing for England U18 against Ireland over Easter, played for Harlequins (whom with he has signed a professional contract for next year).

Henry Lamont helped Rosslyn Park win the plate, scoring a try in the final, while Henry Taylor’s Harlequins won the cup final 26 – 0 against Bath. Both players were playing against full-time professional sides and showed that they were certainly capable of performing at the highest level.

Andrew Houston stated that “it is a great achievement for both these guys to be playing at such a high level while still at School. It is just reward for all their efforts and it was amazing to see OC Seb Stegmann playing as well. To have so many boys now playing at this kind of level, including the likes of James Thompson (Cambridge University bound) and Harry Elrington (Loughborough University bound), is an amazing achievement for the School. Henry Lamont will be going to Oxford University next season and I have no doubt that both he and James Thompson will be starring in the Varsity match over the next three years.”
