Following last season’s consistently high scoring victories for the U14A, U15A and U16A, all of whom scored over 100 goals and conceded less than 20, there was a plan developed to spread the player resources across the top teams in order to avoid one sided matches: more importantly it was felt that this would facilitate the development of decision making skills of all the players across the top teams, rather than rely on a few of the very best players in each team.
The U14As have had a tremendous start to their Cranleigh School careers, being unbeaten over six fixtures, winning five of those. They have scored 27 goals and conceded just 3. The U14Bs and U14Cs have won 7 out of their combined tally of 11 matches.
The U15As have had a series of close games resulting in only one defeat: the sequence has included a very good win against Eastbourne College 3-1. With many players taking new roles, playing in different lines (defence, midfield or attack), there has been significant improvement from many individuals in learning new skills in their new positions. The U15B and U15Cs have only lost three of their combined ten matches.
The U16As have also seen a significant improvement in the skills of numerous individuals, once again having to adapt to new roles and different formations. Closer games than in previous years have still seen them undefeated until they faced a notably strong Eastbourne College side. They have won three including a handsome 5-1 victory against Sevenoaks. The U16Bs have won 4 out of 5 encounters.
The 1st XI have included a number of new Lower Sixth, as well as incorporating U5th and L5th players for most matches. They have had a number of close games, so far remaining undefeated, winning six out of seven matches. They recorded their first ever win against Sevenoaks where they came back from 0-2 down in a stunning display in the second half.
The 2nd XI and 3rd XI have won 5 out of 9 of their combined fixtures.
