A fiercely contested afternoon of singing concluded the Lent Term, with the annual House Singing Competition involving the whole school. Each House performed the Unison Song, which this year was from ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, and a song of their own choice on the theme of colours and light. Diamonds sang a rousing version of ‘Lily the pink’ followed by Hearts singing ‘Love Shine a Light’ which was made famous at the Eurovision Song Contest by Katrina and the Waves. Spades successfully sang a complex arrangement of ‘Mister Blue’ by ELO and Clubs were the final performers with a confident rendition of ‘Shine’ by Take That. The adjudicator, Mrs Frett, was extremely complimentary about the quality of choral work and praised the commitment that everybody showed. The unison prize was awarded to Diamonds and the part song trophy to Hearts for the third year running.
