4J were the first of the Form 4 classes to spend the evening learning bushcraft skills and camping overnight on Top Pitch. They managed to erect their tents successfully before a heavy, isolated shower in the early evening. They then learned how to prepare a barbeque and an evening meal of burgers, salad and potatoes (some less patient pupils were eating smaller burgers than others!).

Mr Storey  showed all the pupils how to start a fire without using matches and then demonstrated the preparation of campfire food. They all slept overnight under canvas, being awoken at various points in time between 5am and 6 am. They all enjoyed this valuable experience and one pupil said this morning, ‘I wish I could do it all over again!’ This may give parents some ideas for half term activities!
