During the Easter holidays a group of Upper School pupils ventured to North Wales for a Writing Holiday.  Based at the National Writing Centre of Wales, Ty Newyyd, which is nestled in the foothills of Snowdonia National Park, our group spent a glorious week by the seaside, writing a range of poetry and prose.

Away from the pressures of their busy lives, the children enjoyed walks by the sea, the fresh country air, home-cooked food and lots of writing, guided by the inspirational author, Tiffany Murray, and poet, Peter Sansom.

When not writing, they were entertained by Welsh musicians, Gywneth Glyn and Tym Morys (who also taught them how to speak some Welsh); they were given a full tour around the tiny lifeboat centre in Criccieth; they tasted the most divine Welsh ice-cream from a local ice-cream parlour, and they walked along a babbling brook, soaking up the scenery and taking time out to appreciate nature’s beauty.

We hope this slide show captures a little of the literary magic we experienced in Wales.
