On Wednesday evening, members of the Lower School escaped back in time, to when adventures came from swimming, fishing, camping and exploring rather than in an Xbox, via the enchanting Swallows and Amazons.

To reach Wild Cat Island, the children first had to swim across an imaginary lake in teams, set up a refuge tent (leaving time for a drink and a Penguin biscuit) and create their own personalised paper hats.

We then sat back and enjoyed some of Arthur Ransome’s timeless classic, dreaming of summer holiday adventures and the things dreams are made of.

“Swallows and Amazons forever!”
