Form 4 History students welcomed The Loxwood Joust into school this week. The knights enthralled pupils with details about armour and weapons, as well as tales from the battlefield.

To everyone’s delight, pupils were also allowed to handle the weapons and appreciate just what strength it must have taken to wield these weapons in real combat!

Prior to the visit, the pupils had been researching medieval knights and the art of heraldry; they used this newly found knowledge to design individual coats of arms which were transferred onto fabric banners and presented to the knights of Loxwood Joust.

They will be displayed at the Loxwood Joust, a spectacular medieval and jousting festival held locally every August, where they will line the entrance to the event.
