Today, Cranleigh Prep School announces a bold new step by welcoming applications from parents with children aged three and above.

Following the successful launch of our Year 1 and 2 classes this year, we are opening up Pre-School and Reception classes for the first time, with places for children aged 3 and up.

Set within Cranleigh’s beautiful grounds, our new Pre-School and Reception classes offer children space to play, learn, and grow with access to our forest school, dedicated play areas and exceptional facilities. This is the next stage in the School’s move to offer education to the very youngest learners all the way through to eighteen years old.

Will Newman, Head at Cranleigh Prep School said: “From September next year we’ll be expanding our offer to parents who would like their children to benefit from a Cranleigh education at the very earliest stages of their development. I’ve been delighted with the Pre-Prep offer we introduced this term for Year 1 and 2 children and now we’re completing the picture with a Reception class and the addition of a Pre-School. Every child will be seen and celebrated and we personalise each pupil’s learning journey to spark joy, curiosity and the confidence to grow.”

The expansion comes with plans to build new classrooms to accommodate the new age groups, with the building project to be completed for next summer in time for the start of the 2026-27 academic year.

To celebrate the launch, families who register by 30 November for 2026 entry into Reception or Year 1 will receive a Founders Award, which is a contribution towards each child’s fees, recognising those who become part of our story from the beginning. Subject to the availability of places, the contribution is equivalent to 20% annually up to Year 2, followed by a 5% annual contribution from Years 3-8.

Mr Newman continued: “Since I joined the School in January I have been wanting to widen access to Cranleigh Prep so that more local families can take advantage of the amazing facilities and flexibility of care that we have to offer. For our youngest pupils, the priority is about meeting their individual needs and laying the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.”

Cranleigh Prep School first opened its doors 1913, becoming co-educational twenty five years ago. It has been a mainstay of the education scene in Surrey for more than a hundred years.
