We are extremely proud of our Chamber Choir, who qualified for the finals of the National Choral Competition and journeyed to Birmingham to compete. This event is organised by Barnardo’s, with all financial proceeds going to this fantastic charity that helps to transform lives, by supporting vulnerable children young people, parents and carers.
There were fourteen junior choir finalists for children aged 12 and under, plus six senior choir finalists for singers aged 13 and over. Each ensemble sang their two contrasting pieces to a panel of judges during the day, and then joined together for a celebratory concert in the evening.
It was wonderful to hear each individual choir perform and the combined sound of everyone singing together was spellbinding. It must have been very difficult for the adjudicators to decide between such a lot of excellent groups, and we congratulate those choirs who were winners and runners up this year.
An additional bonus was hearing so many excellent pieces of music – it has given us lots of ideas for future concerts!
