Monday saw the UVth artists spend an enjoyable few hours drawing and taking photographs amongst the treasures of the
British Museum, while conducting initial research for this year’s GCSE exam project. The pupils’ task was to investigate images and artefacts that fitted this year’s exam theme of ‘Apart and/or Together’. Whether set apart by culture and time, or grouped together, there were plenty of inspiring objects from which to draw. Cranleighans looked at a wide range of objects from Roman sculpture, and African masks to Egyptian figures and Wedgwood bone china, working hard and making some excellent drawings.
