Last weekend the end-of-season National Championship play-offs to determine who gets into Europe – the equivalent of the Champions League in football – took place at Lee Valley in the Olympic Park and Cranleigh was represented more than it has ever been.

Taylor Seager-Green was in the Surbiton squad that caused not just one upset but two. Having beaten Holcombe 3-2 on Saturday, they were 0-3 down to Wimbledon, only to come back to draw 3-3 and win on shootouts to lift the trophy. OC Jonny Gall was also in the victorious Surbiton side, whilst OC Will Calnan played for Hampstead & Westminster as they lost 1-2 to Wimbledon in the semi-final as well as the 3rd/4th play-off.

In the Women’s Championship, Pippa Lock played for East Grinstead who narrowly lost 1-2 to Holcombe in the semi-final and she was joined by two OCs, Megan Batchelor and Zoe Burrell in the East Grinstead side.

Having two current pupils and four OCs playing in the biggest Championship in adult hockey was a great advert for Cranleigh.
