The Easter holidays saw a busy few weeks for Cranleigh hockey players. During the break, the England hockey under 18s and 16s played against their Dutch counterparts as usual, and had some of the best results for a very long time.

The under 18 Girls included Izzy Petter and Millie Regan in goal. They lost the first game 5-1, but a much tighter second game saw England take the lead with 10 minutes to go, only for the Dutch to score two goals to win the game. The third game was 0-0 after three quarters but, once again, the Dutch side managed two goals whilst England scored one.

Rosie Hope was playing for the under 16 Girls who narrowly lost the first two games 2-3 and 1-3 before recording an excellent 1-0 victory in the last game.

Taylor Seager-Green and Harry Gough were in the under 18 Boys team, but unfortunately Harry was injured in their final training session, so was unable to take part in their series that started with a 1-1 draw, followed by a great 2-1 win. The Dutch won the final game 4-0 to level the series.

At the under 16 Club finals, Tilly Gough won gold with the Surbiton girls, whilst in the boys event Olly Witts also won gold for Surbiton, beating Guildford in the final that included no less than four Cranleigh players: Will Firth, Ethan Styles, Harvey Styles and Will Tristem.

And finally, recent Old Cranleighan, James Gall, was part of the England senior team that won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games this weekend by beating India, having only just lost 1-2 to the number one team in the world, Australia, in the semis.
