This week we took 64 students from the Lower Fifth on their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition.

There were a few nerves but everyone was excited and happy to be finally going out on expedition! We had 12 groups out walking and used 3 separate campsites around the local area. We had 2 days of perfect expedition weather which certainly helped the groups tackle the 30km route, carrying all their kit and food for an overnight camp out. The groups did very well, especially given the limited practice we have been able to have this year. Despite some aching muscles and sore feet, they were supportive and cheerful throughout.

We celebrated with a BBQ at the end of the expedition and were delighted to award 20 students with their Bronze certificates and badges for having completed all sections of the award. A big thank you to the 12 staff and 2 sixth formers who helped make it happen.
