Recently, some of our pupils have seen success in the local hockey teams they are a part of.

At the recent finals, Matt H. won a silver with Guildford Hockey Club after a shootout in the final and Freya A. made it to, but unfortunately lost out in the semis with Surbiton.

The Guildford u16 boys started with a 4-1-win over York having been one down early on with Matt H. getting his name on the scoresheet. A 1-4 loss to Trojans followed meaning they needed to beat Cambridge in the last pool match to qualify. One down at half time, Matt scored two in the second half to seal a 2-1 victory. The semi v Repton saw them one goal down at half time again but they rallied to win 3-2 with Matt getting another. The final against Wotton-under-Edge who had beaten Trojans 6-3 in the other semi was a ding-dong battle. One up, 1-2 down, Guildford equalised in the last minute but unfortunately lost the shootout.

Surbiton u18 girls started with a good 2-1 win over Repton and then a comfortable 8-0 victory over Wakefield. Their last pool match v Clifton Robinsons would decide the winners/runners-up. Leading at half time Surbiton could not hold off the opposition who ran out 4-3 winners. So to a semi-final against a strong East Grinstead team. A tight first half saw East Grinstead take the lead just before half time and then scoring regularly in the second half to record a 5-0 win before going on to win the final against Clifton Robinsons.

Well done to both of them.

Mr Organ, Director of Hockey
