Sports Update – 1st May 2026

Last weekend delivered a wide range of impressive performances across all sports, with many teams producing excellent results and competitive displays.

Sports Review

Tennis

Our tennis season got off to a strong start. The U14A girls secured a solid 6–3 win against Sevenoaks, while the U15A and U15B girls were dominant, both recording 9–0 victories. The U15A boys also impressed with a 6–3 win over Bradfield. Although the U15B boys were narrowly defeated, there were standout performances from Theo K, Henry Li and Henry L. At senior level, the girls’ 1st team faced a tough match and lost 2–7, but the 2nd team highlighted the squad’s depth with an emphatic 9–0 win. The boys’ 1st team came up against strong opposition in the Independent Schools League first round but performed admirably.

Cricket

Our girls’ teams were involved in a series of closely fought matches. The 1st XI were unlucky to lose a game that could have gone either way, with Grace C top scoring with 35. The 2nd XI also narrowly missed out, losing in the final over despite an excellent 49 from Daisy M. The U14A team were also on the wrong side of the result, although Charlotte H produced a strong batting performance.

The boys enjoyed a highly successful block of fixtures against Dulwich, with all senior teams recording victories. The 1st XI chased down 169 to win by eight wickets, with Will H taking four wickets and Zan C scoring 73. The 2nd XI secured a two-wicket win chasing 152, thanks to valuable contributions from Fred H, Max L and a composed innings from Tom F. The 3rd XI delivered a convincing performance, highlighted by Jack W’s explosive 79 from 25 balls, while the 4th XI completed a comfortable eight-run win. The U15 teams continued this strong momentum: The B team claimed a five wicket victory, with Charlie B taking an outstanding five wickets for eleven runs and the C team also won, with Harry H top scoring with 43.

Athletics

Our team hosted their annual meet at the K2 in Crawley, finishing third in a highly competitive field. There were numerous personal bests across both track and field events. Oscar H impressed on debut in the 400m, winning his race comfortably, while Zac W anchored the senior boys’ sprint relay team to victory in the final event of the day.

A huge thank you goes to all staff and players who travelled away and supported fixtures late into the evening. Your commitment is greatly appreciated.

Teams of the Week

The U15A and U15B girls tennis teams for their dominant performances and excellent team spirit.

The U15A girls cricket team for their dramatic 6-run victory over Wellington, posting 146 (Ruby P 39) and backing it up with a strong bowling display led by Eve M.

The U15A boys cricket team for their commanding 9-wicket win, with Noah O finishing unbeaten on 68 alongside a superb all-round team performance.

During the week

We are delighted to share the outstanding achievements of Max V G in padel. On the international stage, he is currently ranked 276 in the world for juniors, a testament to both his ability and dedication to the sport. Closer to home, Max holds the number one ranking in Surrey for U18s, underlining his position as one of the county’s leading young players. In recognition of his continued success, he has also been selected for the Great Britain training squad.

Our golf teams also enjoyed an excellent week, recording victories over Charterhouse (3–0) and Wellington (2–1). In addition, we saw strong participation in Senior Boys’ House Golf and House Swimming for the girls.

Well done to all swimmers who competed against Eton on Tuesday afternoon. A special mention goes to the U15 team, who secured an impressive victory with some outstanding times and performances.

Our U15 Touch rugby team warmed up for their tournament next week with a nine-all draw on Thursday night against the adult Cranleigh RFC side.

It was also a busy week for cup cricket. The girls’ 1st XI were unfortunate to lose their Hundred Cup match on Tuesday but there was plenty of success elsewhere. The U15 girls’ team delivered a strong performance, beating Priorsfield by 9 wickets, with Matilda F scoring an unbeaten 43 runs. The boys’ 1st XI T20 side secured a convincing 42-run win over St John’s Leatherhead, thanks in large part to a superb innings of 125 from captain Zan Copleston.
