Welcome back!

This week has seen our 1st XI boys’ cricket team win their national South East semi-final against Bede’s on Monday. The team reduced them to 109, with Hasaan D and Ivan B both taking three wickets each. We then chased down the total with five balls to spare, with James F, Alex F, Zan C and Henry P all contributing runs. This means we are now into the regional final.

Sadly, our 14A boys’ cricket cup game was cancelled due to rain, but our U15 girls’ cricket side won their cup match on Wednesday by eight wickets. South Hampstead High scored 89 off their 20 overs, with four of our bowlers – Harri L, Daisy M, Taylor VW and Sienna V – all taking a couple of wickets each. Harri L and Sophie B both started well in the run chase, and we managed to secure the win with five overs remaining. The team now plays Kingston Grammar on Saturday in the next round.

We were delighted to learn of the success of our OC women’s golf team this week. The team of two pairs won the scratch trophy at the prestigious Silver Tassie competition, played at The Berkshire Golf Club on Monday, 2nd June. The event has been running since 1961, set up to provide a female event to complement the Halford Hewitt competition for men, and Cranleigh entered a team for the first time in 2024. For this year’s competition, 24 schools were represented, with the two Cranleigh pairs scoring impressive gross scores of 74 and 76.

We also had some additional OC news, with Adam Thomas (who left last year) being signed for Surrey men’s 1st XI cricket team. Adam joins four other OCs in the Surrey squad, and we couldn’t be prouder of his and their achievements.

The weather this weekend is forecast to be unsettled, and we will, as ever, work hard to update our sports desk and let pupils know as early as we can if there are any changes to the details below. We will be doing a pitch inspection at roughly 6:30am and again before 10am.
