Cranleigh School

Cranleigh prioritises the safeguarding and wellbeing of every single pupil. The teenage years can bring a range of challenges to young people and our aim is to help every pupil to navigate their adolescence safely, with the support of a caring community.

Our staff are highly trained in safeguarding young people and we have a dedicated team of designated safeguarding leads that are known to each child. Our Head of Safeguarding, Mrs Sue Fairbrother, is in regular contact with local organisations and partnerships to help manage risks outside the school. She keeps us up to date with new trends, both physical and virtual, and our parents and pupils have access to a hub of professional resources that help families through the teenage years.

Pupils are taught about safeguarding, through year-group lectures as part of the PSHE programme; these focus on the particular safeguarding issues most relevant to their age.

Pupil feedback is always important and we run termly surveys for pupils to ensure we are meeting their needs, as well as regularly reviewing our safeguarding structure.

Sue leads a large safeguarding team alongside the DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead), Dr Andrea Saxel, who is also the Deputy Head Pastoral.
