Cranleigh School’s summer of cricket got underway on Monday 16th April with two matches against Christ‘s College from Christchurch, New Zealand. The grounds looked magnificent thanks to the work put in by Head Groundsman Denis Bloomfield and his team. The 1st XI secured an impressive victory: having restricted Christ’s to 183/8 from their 50 overs (Ashpreet Sran taking 4 for 29 on his debut), an unbeaten century from Jack Scriven allowed Cranleigh to reach their target with more than 7 overs to spare. Contrastingly, Christ’s had the better of the U16 match. It was an excellent, if chilly, way for the season to begin.
The School is also delighted that captain Michael Burgess was selected to play for Surrey’s 2nd XI side this week, which is a great opportunity for this very promising wicketkeeper-batsman. Will Rollings also had the opportunity to represent the Surrey 2nd XI earlier in the Easter holidays.
