Recently, two Cranleighans have been playing hockey at an impressively high level. A couple of Sundays ago, Katie Batchelor (South, UVI) was part of the East Grinstead Women’s team that became champions of the National Indoor LeKatie Batchelor.Hockey.NEWSague Division 1. This has earned them promotion to the Premier Division next year in which the top nine women’s hockey teams in the country fight it out to get to the final of the Maxifuel Super Sixes at Wembley, which is shown on Sky Sports.

Richard Organ, Director of Hockey, said “Katie has improved a number of parts of her game this year and has reaped the rewards by inclusion in a strong East Grinstead side that have got promotion to the top level of women’s hockey for the first time in the team’s history.”

Additionally, Old Cranleighan Jonny Gall (Cubitt, 2011) has just returned from Australia where he was representing England under-21s in the Youth Olympics where they won the silver medal. He has been playing a major role forjonny gall hockey Surbiton in the Men’s Premier League for the past two seasons and his selection for this trip is recognition for his continued development.
