The 2013 inter-house quiz final was a repeat of 2012, with several team-members reappearing. But whereas last year a dramatic tie led to extra time, this year Loveday asserted superiority from before half-way through the contest.  When scorer (and former School team quizzer) James Brookes read out a deficit of just 160-130, we seemed in for a close contest, not least because in their semi-final Cubitt had scored 630 against North, by some way the highest total in all five matches this year. In the end, however, like East in the semi-final, Cubitt could only muster 180 (to Loveday’s 430).

The Loveday team so impressed Messrs Brookes and Longshaw (quizmaster and regional organiser of the national competition) that they have selected all four of the team to be the School team. The seniors are Christian Round and Nat McAleese-Park and the excellent juniors (who both made major contributions to the House’s victory) are Callum Job and Joe Mellor.
