The wait is finally over for last year’s upper sixth formers and there were plenty of smiles as results envelopes were collected this morning.  The Schoolexam success Cranleigh A levels is celebrating their record-breaking results, with over 50 per cent of pupils achieving A-A* grades, and an overall pass rate of almost 100 per cent.

Despite significant changes in education policy, and recent national warnings from examination boards on potentially volatile results, the School has maintained its strong academic results with year-on-year improvement. This year’s results are the strongest ever at the top grade awards, with over 25 per cent of all A2 grades awarded an A* and over 50 per cent of A2 grades being A/A*.  Several students attained A* grades in all their subjects, with Karthik Suresh attaining four, and Hattie Allison, Georgia Beaumont, Sebastian Haddock, Cameron Henderson, Nathaniel McAleese-Park, Louisa Richards, Katarzyna Sowa and Angus Young attaining three each.

Director of Studies, David Boggitt, said: “Our students have worked extremely hard, supported by the dedication of both tutors and parents, and we’re delighted to see these individuals celebrating today.  There’s a strong sense of collaboration between staff and pupils in the School’s top years and it’s fantastic to see what that can achieve.  We’re all looking forward to building on these results in the coming academic year.”

The School’s overall pass rate was 99.71 per cent, with 80 per cent of students achieving three A* to C grades, 59 per cent gaining three A* to B grades, and 28 per cent securing A Levels all graded at A*/A.
