This summer has seen glorious weather and only two fixtures have been called off owing to poor weather. As we come to the last few games of the year, there has been much success for all teamsCricket 1st XI v Charterhouse 2015 _17955 ranging from the 1st XI to the U14 Ds. We have regularly put out 11 sides each week, often more than schools with double our numbers are able to mobilise.

The 1st XI has regularly had five U16 age players in the side each week and yet this has not stopped them from playing aggressive cricket. Once again the side was victorious against both Tonbridge and Wellington. Lewis Bedford (Cubitt U5th) scored the first ever hundred against Tonbridge at 1st XI level. They have also won against Brighton, Charterhouse, St Paul’s and Bede’s. Freddy Austin (Loveday U5th) also scored his maiden 1st XI hundred with an unbeaten 144 against Hurstpierpoint.

The 2nd XI has had an even more successful summer, winning eight out of nine matches. Giamaco Gray (North L6th) has led the way with four fifties including 99 not out againstCricket 1st XI v St Pauls 2015 _17521 Whitgift. The rest of the senior sides have been less fortunate with regards to both results and fixtures, with many other schools cancelling fixtures owing to lack of numbers.

The U15 sides have competed well this summer: highlights have included the A team winning against Wellington and the B’s and C’s against Tonbridge. The U14s have also played an aggressive brand of cricket and the A’s, B’s and C’s have completed clean sweep victories against both Hurstpierpoint and Bede’s. The highlight came in the past week when Sam Lubbock (East 4th) and Will Dahl (North 4th) scored 122 not out and 70 not out in an unbeaten opening stand of 202 against Hurstpierpoint.

Outside School fixtures we have had many players representing local club’s senior teams during the summer so far and, of course, playing in representative county teams. Whilst theCricket U-16 v Hurstpierpoint 2015_16729 School toured India in February we also had Ollie Pope (Loveday L6th), Angus Dahl (North U5th) and Lewis Bedford tour Sri Lanka with the Surrey Academy.  Jonte Marshall (Cubitt 4th) is also a member of the Surrey elite player programme, joining the three others in regular fixtures. Freddy Austin and Josh Turner (Loveday U5th) have both played U17 county cricket for Surrey and Essex respectively. Will Vincent (East L5th) has been part of the Surrey U15 side as well. Ollie Pope has also made his second XI debut for Surrey in a T20 competition against Sussex.

It has thus been a great summer so far and, as we approach the final few games, let us hope that the weather remains on our side.
