The 2018 Dashwood Keyboard Performance was as entertaining as ever, with a mix of seasoned performers and several newcomers in both the Junior and Senior sections.

The chapel setting, with its warm acoustics, served only to enhance the variety of performances on display.

In the junior section, Will Marshall gave a very musical rendition of Merikanto’s Valse Lente, Kate Wili a beautiful and soulful account of the haunting Chopin C# minor Nocturne, and Lina Mazzone an exciting and technically dazzling performance of Rachmaninov’s G# minor Prelude.

In the senior section, newcomer Kiko Liu played a Burgmuller study with insight and musical purpose. George Pettifer gave an effortless and exquisitely crafted version of, ‘Spring can really hang you up the most’, by Landesman and Wolf and Millie Mazzone’s Aufschwung (Schumann) was commanding, arresting and totally assured.

The evening was well attended and much enjoyed by all. Congratulations to all the performers on a high quality and entertaining evening.
