Having qualified through the Surrey Heats and then last week come third at the Surrey Finals with a creditable 2-0 win over Reigate, the under 14s performed really well at the South Heats to earn a South quarter-final against local rivals St George’s.

An initial loss at the South Heats to a strong Kingston side was followed by a good 2-0 victory against Great Marlow and a more comfortable 4-1 win over St Benedict’s. The final match versus Portsmouth Grammar required a victory and we raced into a 3-0 lead with some excellent interplay in the first half. This was too much for the opposition and though we had chances to extend the lead in the second half, their keeper played extremely well to keep the score the same.

Richard Organ, Director of Hockey, commented: “It was pleasing to see the progress in their understanding of tactics during the day and we look forward to taking on St George’s”.

Squad: Georgia Alexander, Molly Clements, Bea Emburey, Jazz Garlick, Gabriella Gates, Rosie Grayson, Lizzie Hauger, Issy Hollidge, Emily Kohler, Georgie Lawes, Tori Lock, Liv Martin, Ellie Stafilopatis, Saffi Tarbuck.
