Although the School 1st XV rugby season is over, a number of players have been representing their clubs, county and academies over the last two months. This has resulted in success for several players, and we are delighted to announce that Oscar Beard, Finn Brown and Will Trenholm have been selected for the South of England U17 squad later this month. Will Trenholm has also been selected for the England U18 squad, despite still being U17.

Hayden Hyde was selected for the Ireland U19 team which played against Australia in December, and Will, Oscar, Hayden, Josh Dodson, David Ofori and Sam Davies have all represented Harlequins U18 in their academy fixtures this season.

The boys have been following with great interest the example set by two recent Old Cranleighans. Sam Arnold (Munster) played for Ireland against the USA in November and Jamie Barden, who only left school in August 2018, has been selected for the full England Sevens team in their world series leg in Las Vegas.

Jamie captained last year’s 1st XV and 7’s side and was one of three boys to sign professional contracts last summer. Jamie was selected as a ‘young gun’ by Rugby magazine in 2017 when he helped the school successfully defend their Rosslyn Park National Sevens title.
