Congratulations to Sadhbh S. who represented Ireland U17 Netball at the European Challenge in Gibraltar at the weekend. The 12 strong team played matches against the Isle of Man, Malta, Switzerland and the host side Gibraltar.

Netball Europe and Gibraltar Netball ran a seamless competition over four days at the Tercentenary Sports hall in the centre of Gibraltar.

The final scores were Switzerland 48 – Ireland 35; Isle of Man 45 – Ireland 31: Ireland 44 – Malta 21; Ireland 32 – Gibraltar 32. Sadhbh was delighted to be presented with her first Netball Cap and received praise from the commentators when she was switched from GD to GS in the second quarter of the match against the Isle of Man. Sadhbh would like to say a huge thank you to Cranleigh Netball for all their support.

Sadhbh is delighted to be following in the footsteps of her aunts, Jane and Sarah Digby, who both represented Ireland at the 5th World Netball Championship in Trinidad and Tobago. She says she was honoured to take part despite not being able to walk very well at the moment (due to enormous blisters on her feet!) and she would like to do it all over again.

She’s been working hard with the squad since October, with rigorous training camps and matches against the Northern Ireland U17 and U19 teams and Aspire Elite a Yorkshire based Academy. Now she’s looking forward to the rest of the season.
