Cranleigh School and Cogdel Education Group are delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Griffiths as the Founding Head of Cranleigh China Changsha. As Headmaster, Andrew will oversee continuation of the school set up from February 2020 and lead the school as it opens its doors to the first Cranleigh China pupils in September 2020 and beyond.
Andrew is of course very well-known to the Cranleigh community. He was a Housemaster for twelve years then Deputy Head of Cranleigh School for eight years before retiring in 2016. Andrew helped to set up Denla British School in Thailand in 2016 and was the school’s interim Headmaster. He remains on the Governing Body of Denla British School.
Andrew says of his appointment “I am delighted to be able to return to the Cranleigh Family and head up this exciting new joint venture with Cogdel in China. This is a fantastic opportunity to make available the Cranleigh School education ethos to students in Changsha and Chengdu and allow them to reach their full potential in all aspects of their future life”
James Dale-Adcock, Cranleigh’s Strategic Development Director said “I am thrilled that Andrew is to be Headmaster of the first Cranleigh China school in Changsha. We have worked closely together on a number of projects in the past and I believe that Andrew’s combination of UK and international experience, personality and energy make him ideal for the Headship of our first school in China. I very much look forward to working closely with Andrew on all facets of the Cranleigh China project.”
Wang Shu, President of Cogdel Education Group, said “We are delighted that Andrew will be the founding Headmaster of Cranleigh China in Changsha. Our aim has always been to make sure that Cranleigh China students enjoy the same experience as students in the UK. With Andrew we have a Headmaster who knows Cranleigh and has the skills to bring that vast experience to China to the benefit of both our students and our staff!”
All of us at Cranleigh wish Andrew the very best of luck with his work in China and will provide all the support he needs through the Cranleigh family network here in the UK and Abu Dhabi.
