On Friday 31st January the Cranleigh Environmental Action Group held a Charity Second Hand Clothes Sale in aid of the Australian Wildfire Disaster. The event offered the opportunity for students to pick up a bargain ahead of Tuesday’s Second Hand Mufti Day, which hoped to raise even more money for ‘Labour Behind the Label‘, who campaign for garment workers’ rights worldwide.

The event took place in the Emms Centre Atrium from 5pm-7pm, and was packed full of keen staff and pupils with an eye for a bargain from start to finish. The Environmental group managed to pull together over 500 items of clothing, all being sold at reasonable prices, carefully colour coded to make it clear which bracket they fell under. The event was made even easier by the options to pay by either PayPal or cash at the designated payment areas.

For those after a designer bargain, the DEPOP rails proved a great success, with brands such as Burberry and Off White being sold at a fraction of their retail price, with some items having never even been worn.  A few special items still can be found on the official DEPOP page, however be quick to snap them up as they are now accessible to the public! @cranleigheco

Hunting for a good buy definitely burned off a lot of fuel, which made the addition of the cake sale a great compartment, with an impressive assortment including Farm Girl Cheesecakes. For Earth’s Sake also were selling some of their amazing zero-waste products, with a proportion of each sale going to charity.

The sale proved to be a huge success, raising £1586.08 so far, with the Mufti total still to come.
