Wednesday saw the U18 girls crowned champions of the prestigious St George’s 6s for the fifth time in the last decade.

Starting rather sleepily we found ourselves 0-1 down to Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School at half time but recovered to draw 1-1 with numerous short corners that could have won the game.

We then beat Godolphin & Latymer, Wimbledon High, Mill Hill and KCS Wimbledon scoring 13 goals and just conceding 1 bringing us to the crunch final pool game against Reeds in which we needed a score draw to qualify. A draw was never on the cards and we played some flowing hockey to run out 5-0 winners.

This set the standard and we continued this form beating Epsom 2-0 in the semi final as well as hitting the post a couple of times. The final against hosts St George’s and a partisan crowd followed a similar story with a dominant performance giving us a 2-0 victory.

A great start to the season – well done.

Squad: Liv B., Skye B., Liv G., Mattie H., Siena K., Georgie L., Liv M., Boau-Lilly S., Pippi S., Eliza W.
