Lower Sixth pupils have been learning Ballroom & Latin dances since November, and last week we were able to put on a “Strictly”-style event!

The evening was a panoply of sparkle, lights, sequins and music as all the couples wowed the supportive audience who contributed a wonderful atmosphere to the evening.

Each couple danced a Waltz, a Quickstep, a Cha Cha and a Jive, with finalists selected and then first, second and third prizes being awarded for each dance. There was also an award of King and Queen of Dance for the best overall couple across the four dances.

The competition was excellently hosted by Felix J and Freddie F and was judged by Miss Abbie Harris, Mr Lindsay McDonald and Sheila Staveley, who had travelled down from Blackpool!

Katya Jones (from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing) also provided a personalised video of support for the dancers, which was played on the evening.

The awards were as follows:

Waltz 1st: Oscar C & Jemima F

Quickstep 1st: Rafe B and Amelia C

Cha Cha 1st: Joe T and Bella W

Jive 1st: Charlie C and Sienna R

King and Queen of Dance: Paddy B and Phoebe G

Many congratulations to all involved!
