On the penultimate Tuesday of the term, Lower Sixth pupils took part in the much-anticipated and challenging ‘Nuts Challenge,’ marking the school’s return to the event for the first time since 2019. The event, a gruelling 7km mud run featuring army-style obstacles, tested the students’ endurance and team spirit.

The school’s hiatus from the ‘Nuts Challenge’ was due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, persistent enthusiasm and pressure from the pupils convinced Mr. Reed to conduct a Risk Assessment last November to ensure the course met the rigorous standards required. The perfect conditions—thanks to heavy rain over the weekend and clear blue skies on the day—added to the event’s success.

Every team navigated the demanding course, filled with mud and obstacles, displaying determination and camaraderie. The students’ faces beamed with smiles, reflecting their sense of achievement and enjoyment. However, the teachers, who admirably joined the students, were less pleased to discover the absence of shower facilities post-race.
Congratulations are in order for all the Lower Sixth participants and the numerous House staff who completed the course. The hope is that this event will continue to serve as an excellent team-building exercise in the future, fostering a sense of unity and resilience among the students.
