The Emms Centre was buzzing on Tuesday night for the annual Sixth Form Options Evening. Our event provided Year 11 pupils and their parents with crucial insights and guidance ahead of making subject choices for their final two years at Cranleigh.
Attendees were addressed by key members of the leadership team, including Mrs Price, Mrs Carson (Head of Sixth Form) and Mrs Ambrose (Head of Futures). The speakers emphasised the opportunities and structure of the Sixth Form curriculum and the importance of making informed decisions for future academic and career pathways.
Following the opening talks, pupils and parents had the chance to listen to up to five short, focused presentations from department heads. These structured talks outlined the content, expectations, and benefits of studying their respective subjects at A Level. In between each session teachers and current Sixth Form students were on hand to give families an authentic insight into the experience of studying each subject. We underlined Cranleigh’s excellent academic provision – 83% of A Level grades were in the A*– B range last year. A quarter of students all students achieved a clean sweep of A*/As.
In addition to the subject presentations, a wide range of staff were available throughout the Emms Atrium to answer specific questions, including Dr John Taylor on the Advanced Diploma and Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and Mrs Krystle Flack our Head of Learning Support.
The event perfectly illustrated Cranleigh’s ethos and underlined one of our key aims to educate young people to be the best they can be so that they thrive in all aspects of their lives, professionally and personally.
