On Friday evening, we welcomed our Upper Sixth students to Crane House garden to mark the end of their time at Cranleigh. As they prepare to move into the last, intensive period of revision and exams, the warm summer evening provided the perfect setting for everyone to come together, dress up, relax and celebrate alongside the staff who’ve been supporting them all year.
Andy Houston, our Director of Sport, gave a short speech about the Old Cranleighan Society, reflecting on what this has meant to him as a former student and what it could mean for this group of young people in the years ahead. Enduring friendships were a particular focus. Andy also highlighted the many opportunities and lifelong connections that come with being part of our extended Cranleigh family.
The evening featured toasted marshmallows, garden games and speeches from Lucy and Theo, our Head Girl and Head Boy, before our Head, Sam Price, shared some final words with everyone. The celebrations concluded with the Upper Sixth forming a giant circle to sing Auld Lang Syne, accompanied by John Andrews, our resident piper. Each student also received a small gift from the OC Society and from Sam, to wish them well and to welcome them into the Old Cranleighan community.
