Our latest student theatre production explored powerful themes of climate responsibility, corporate influence and the consequences of ignoring uncomfortable truths. Inspired by headlines that continue to remind us that history has a habit of repeating itself, the piece centred on the concept of greenwashing — the use of misleading environmental claims that distract from meaningful action on the climate crisis.
Through a blend of humour, creativity and sharp storytelling, the production encouraged audiences to think critically about the world around them while celebrating the importance of genuine ecological change.
Created collaboratively by the cast and creative team, the production was developed from scratch during rehearsals, with students helping to shape both the story and the characters as the process evolved. This approach demanded imagination, resilience, trust and courage from everyone involved.
What began with understandable uncertainty quickly grew into a confident and ambitious performance, as students took real ownership of the work and embraced the challenges of devising original theatre.
The final result was a bold, thought-provoking and playful production that moved between truth and deception, highlighting both the complexity of modern environmental issues and the shared humanity at the heart of them.
