Another Superb Saturday of Sport
Last weekend brought another outstanding Saturday of sport, with perfect weather and a series of excellent team and individual performances across multiple disciplines.
Tennis
The tennis teams faced off against Bradfield and Tonbridge, delivering strong results across the board. The Girls’ 1st and 2nd teams continued their stellar start to the season with hard-fought victories—6–3 and 5–4, respectively.
While the Boys’ U15A team narrowly lost, Tom A. and Isaac H. stood out with two impressive wins. Eden W. also played brilliantly for the Girls’ 14B team.
James R. enjoyed a standout day, winning five of his six matches, while Max on G. turned in an exceptional performance, defeating an opponent two years his senior to help the team climb the ISL rankings with a win over Sevenoaks.
Cricket
It was another successful weekend for cricket. All four girls’ teams secured convincing victories. The Girls’ 1st XI advanced in the cup with a dominant 9-wicket win, while the 2nd XI impressed, with Mia W. delivering a standout bowling performance.
The Girls’ 14A team showcased depth, using all 11 bowlers, and Emma C. retired on 50 not out during a successful run chase. The 15A team continued their strong run with a last over win.
The boys also had an excellent showing, winning 70% of their matches. The 1st XI secured a commanding win over Bede’s by 3pm—a particularly impressive result given Bede’s included several county players. Hassan D. was outstanding in the run chase.
The Boys’ 15A team delivered a convincing win, thanks to Tom S’s 97 and Jacob M’s quickfire 70. Zach J reached a personal milestone, scoring his first-ever half-century (61) in a 91-run victory. Alfie S. deserves recognition for his remarkable form, hitting consecutive scores in the 90s for the 4th XI.
