Despite the freezing conditions, the netball teams kicked off our Lent term sports season in spectacular fashion.
At home, we celebrated two outstanding victories from the 14A and 16A sides. The 16A team played brilliantly throughout, securing a 24-18 win, while the 14A team continued their impressive form from last term with a dominant 42-7 triumph.
Away from home, the seniors also enjoyed success. A special mention goes to the remarkable number of players involved across the senior teams and throughout the entire netball club. The increasing participation in netball this term highlights our commitment to a “sport for all” ethos, which sets us apart from other schools.
The 1st VII drew against KCS Wimbledon and narrowly lost to Eastbourne. The 2nd VII also drew with KCS but followed up with a win against Eastbourne in their triangular matches. The 3rd and 4th VII teams achieved emphatic victories, with the 3rd VII winning 31-1 and the 4th VII dominating with a 56-5 scoreline.
The 15A team delivered a thrilling 22-22 draw, while the 15B, C, D, and E teams all secured wins away from home, making it a fantastic opening weekend for netball results.
The Team of the Week award goes to the 4th VII, who showcased exceptional skill in their 56-5 victory. Special recognition goes to Maisie Brewer for her outstanding performance as Goal Attack.
The Second Team of the Week is the 15C team, who delivered an excellent team performance. Sophie Brierley was a defensive cornerstone, while Olivia Fothergill excelled with her outstanding defensive contributions.
During the week we had 14A cup hockey, football at 1st XI in the London cup, 4th VII netball vs Hurtwood House as well as mixed swimming in the SSSL league.
This weekend we see a vast number of matches and fingers crossed with a dry weather forecast, all teams will be out playing their matches. As ever please do check our sports desk here for further details and you can check which team your daughter or son is in from 7pm on a Friday.
