It was another sun soaked Saturday last weekend.

Tennis:

The top girls pairs from all age groups headed to Bradfield on Saturday for the ISGL tournament – the competition was fierce and we were pleased to gain a 5th place finish. Molly B and Charley N were our standout pair as they were unbeaten on the day. Our 15B girls team won 7-2 against Epsom alongside our 15A team. The boy’s 3rd team also won 6-3 in their match. We also saw great spirit in the U14 boys teams. They lost narrowly across the three teams but showed superb fighting spirit to the very last point.

Cricket:

On Friday we had two terrific cup matches in the T20 national tournament for the 1st team girls and boys. The Girls lost in the final over but put on a great run chance in a thrilling high standard game. The Boys 1st XI also went to the last over (and actually the last ball) with the team winning. Well done to Nat A who managed to bowl an excellent Yorker for the final delivery to claim victory. On Saturday their were victories for the Girls 1st XI on Jubilee and the U14A team. The boys teams had some tight matches and well done to the U15B and 15C teams who both won. The 15C’s took some excellent catches in the field.

On Thursday, our 15A boys cricket team were involved in cup cricket against RGS . It was great to see the team victorious once again and we wish them well as they continue in that tournament. It was also amazing to See former 1st XI boys captain Ollie Pope score another hundred for England this week and we couldn’t be prouder of. This comes at the same time as Tom Lawes helped Surrey men’s 1st team win and three other OC’s played for Surrey 2nd XI including 8 wickets by OC Yousef Majid.

Athletics:

We received this week selection for the Surrey Schools’ Championships which will take place on Saturday 14th June at the Weir Archer Athletics Track in Kingston. Congratulations to Sam McL (100m), Sam Y (Javelin), Benji W (1500m), Bethan L (Javelin), Levi L (Long Jump), Freddie B (High Jump) and Marcus W (800m)

Individual rugby success:

Two members of the unbeaten 1st XV will involved with professional rugby clubs next year. Congratulations to Joe T (Leicester Tigers) and Cameron W (Bath) on gaining their opportunity and we wish them well. It was also terrific to see former 1st XV player Oscar Beard once again selected for the England rugby squad on the same week that former team mate and OC Will Trenholm has signed professional terms with Gloucester rugby.

Teams of the week:

  1. U14A Girls cricket team: They have had a brilliant season so far and won against a strong opponent on Saturday. Orla R scored 80 runs and the team are working incredibly hard as a unit.

  1. U15B Boys cricket team: Their game was a thriller with it coming down to the last ball. Rupert N and Zach D scored three off it to win the game after a superb 64 run innings from Zach J.
