History & Politics Teacher
Mr David Vaiani teaches History and Politics and is a Tutor in North. He read History at Oriel College, Oxford and left in 2004 to spend the best part of a decade in the corporate world, where he worked for a series of financial publishers in the City of London.
In 2009 he set up Aspire, a social enterprise dedicated to helping state school pupils with their Oxbridge applications. Having acquired a taste for education, Mr Vaiani left his corporate job in 2015 and joined a state school in Surrey to teach History. He arrived at Cranleigh in 2016 and currently teaches History across all age groups and Politics at A Level.
Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Mr Vaiani runs the school’s History of Art society, the Blaker Society. A keen sportsman, he enjoys working with the football and golf teams. In addition, he is in charge of academic competitions, which include debating and public speaking.
In his spare time, he enjoys collecting art, listening to classical music, playing tennis, cooking for friends and going on country walks with his cavapoo, Marcello. He is also a long-suffering Liverpool fan, a keen backgammon player and enjoys spending as much time as possible in Italy.
