James Thompson (UVI, Cubitt) and Henry Lamont (UVI, East) recently took part in the International Chemistry Olympiad 2012. This was the opening round of the United Kingdom section of this competition, run by the Royal Society of Chemistry. There were 3632 candidates for this stage, with only 25 places available to represent the U.K. in the international final.
James performed extremely well, gaining a Gold Award, which was achieved by only the top 7% of the candidates. Henry also impressed, receiving a Bronze award (given to 32.5% of entrants). Both students should be proud of their achievements in this genuinely challenging competition.
