On February 13th, just before Long Leave, LVth pupils of Latin, Ancient Greek and Classical Civilisation went on a day trip to the British Museum. They spent the morning viewing and discussing statues, vases and other artifacts from the ancient world. They focused on Athletes and Contests, Women and Goddesses, The Trojan Cycle, Roman Emperors and the Roman Empire and the Greek Theatre. In the afternoon the pupils alternated between touring the Parthenon Frieze and researching their individual projects.
These projects, all chosen by the pupils themselves, vary from presentations on musical instruments of the Roman world, to diary entries as Ancient Greek comic actors; from advertisements of ancient Chariot Racing, to biographies of the Emperor Hadrian. The day was absolutely packed with activities and ancient themes and it certainly brought the variety of the ancient world to life!
