Will Palmer (L6 North) has been racing in the BRDC Formula 4 Winter Series and on Saturday achieved his first win.

In testing on Friday, although the sessions were untimed, Will was very happy with his pace and was confident that he would have a chance of pole come race day. Conditions for qualifying were very different from the day before, however, with overnight rain making the track slightly damp. All the drivers opted for new slick tyres, and from the offF4 win 2 Palmer was consistently the quickest as the track improved lap after lap. By about halfway through the session, the track was almost fully dry on the racing line, and the drivers were able to put in very quick times. Once ahead he could not be caught and was understandably delighted to record his first victory.

“I’m really pleased with the way I’ve adapted to single seaters, and today was amazing, taking my first ever single seater pole and win, and to do it at what is effectively my home circuit, Brands Hatch, was even more special. I’ve been feeling very confident in the car during testing so it was great to convert that into results today, and hopefully we can challenge for more wins and podiums tomorrow.”

Will is the younger brother of Jolyon (North 2004-2009) who is currently racing in F2.
