The athletics season has started with a real bang this year with the School already competing in three meets. Last weekend was the traditionalAthletics_ Bracknell_ April 30 2016_27855 Wellington fixture where the School competes against the likes of Brighton, Epsom and Wellington at Bracknell Athletics club.

There were some outstanding individual and team performances which lead to the U17 boys winning the overall event in their age group. This was a fantastic achievement with plenty of personal bests amongst theAthletics_ Bracknell_ April 30 2016_27858 events and races won. Rafe Scott jumped a personal best of 1.85m in the high jump as well as winning the 400m! Harry Manning won the 800m, Harry Barlow won the 100m B string and James McCormack won the 400m B string.

In the other age groups, Kit Fowora won the senior boys 100m B string event, Pip Johnson won both the Discus and the B strong shot putt. Sophie O’Neill won the senior girls Shot putt, Sophie Thornton-Wood won the senior girls 400m and Emily Thorpe won the senior girls 100m B string.

The next event for the athletes is the Waverley trials on the 10th May when we will be hoping for some further fine performances.Athletics_ Bracknell_ April 30 2016_27849
