On Wednesday the under 18 Boys won the prestigious St George’s 6s for only the second time in the long history of the event.

The pool games started with comfortable, if uninspiring, wins over Ardingly, Kings College Wimbledon and Hitchin. However, at 0-2 down at half-time versus Merchant Taylors in our next pool game, and with only six minutes per half, our progression to the final stages of the tournament was in serious doubt. Three goals in five minutes showed how we could play though as we recorded another win and followed this up by beating RGS easily in the last pool game.

Our semi-final against Tonbridge was a different ball game, but we took control early on with a good goal and even though we created quite a number of chances, we only won 2-1 in a feisty match.
The final against Simon Langton brought out our best performance. We took the lead only to be pegged back immediately to 1-1. We scored again only for them to respond again, but a couple of minutes from the end we scored the winner to claim the trophy with a deserved 3-2 victory.
