Congratulations to seven Cranleigh musicians who all achieved the gold-standard of Grade 8 in the recent Associated Board Music Exams. Emma Grainger (clarinet), was also awarded The Philip F Walsh Memorial Prize for gaining the highest marks nationally in the Grade 8 examination.

Ben Wili (piano & trumpet), Krzysztof Widera (organ), Lina Mazzone (violin), Christian Oldfield (voice), Sophie Howard (violin) and Katherine Carr (harp) all gained marks in the Distinction or Merit category – a spectacular achievement.

They join the nine other musicians currently at Cranleigh who already have their Grade 8 certificate; Deescha Chandrasma (cello); Ellen Talbot (clarinet);  Toby Chesser (clarinet); Ellen Dixon (violin); Millie Mazzone (violin); Zoe Dixon (cello); Bethany Porter (recorder).  Cranleigh has an enviable record of achievement in high-level practical examinations.

Over the last five years, 50 Cranleigh School pupils have attained Grade 8, over half with Distinction marks. We congratulate all on their success.
