Kawama Day 1

Greetings from Zambia! After a long and tiring journey from Cranleigh, we arrived safely at Nsobe where we have enjoyed an inspiring couple of days. We rode bikes through the bush, went on a game drive, faced our fears at the snake park, played games with 150 children from a local school and learnt about socially responsible capitalism. It’s been quite a journey already! We have learnt so much already about what life is like out here and the challenges that people face on a daily basis.

We transferred to The Townhouse Lodge this afternoon and spent our first afternoon at Kawama Community School. The teachers and children gave us such a warm welcome and after hearing about the history of the school from Pastor Cephas, the School Director, the teachers taught us a song in the local language of Bemba, called ‘We Rejoice’ which we will be performing in church on Sunday morning! Tomorrow we will be assisting teachers in class, teaching crafts and visiting people in the local community. We are really looking forward to the rest of the week!
