Cranleigh is looking forward to another outstanding rugby season and has celebrated the last two record-breaking years with a commemorative publication.
The 1st VII successfully defended their Rosslyn Park Sevens title this year with a 28-7 defeat of Brighton after two days of hard fought rugby in the prestigious international schools competition. Cranleigh is only the fourth school to retain the trophy since the competition began in 1939.
This year the team also won the St Joseph’s International Rugby Festival.
Over the last twelve months the 1st XV and Sevens squad combined played 41 matches, losing just four matches. They were listed as Fifteen Rugby’s team of the season for their record of success against mainly larger schools and some fearsome opposition, and made the shortlist for Rugby Team of the Year for the second year running.
